Second Life is a virtual community, where people create avatars and act out events similar to real life. Schools such as Notre Dame now use Second Life as an alternative distance learning format. Even avatars need information, so librarians have created the Alliance Virtual Library. Additionally, in the down economy, conferences and collaborative business meetings take place in Second Life to help companies save money.
