The authors glossed over the BIG issues of copyright, privacy and other general ethics problems when libraries make use of these technologies. Let's discuss the messy implications of all this new technology.

What commonalities bind these websites together?
All these websites provide user-generated media content. User-generated media websites are internet websites with content that the internet viewing public can access and edit with their own creations. Users are the focus of these websites, and they can upload personal or professional video footage, photos, and images privately or publicly depending on the hosting website. Other users can then access this content and comment or provides links to it.

Do you think information overload is a common problem with Library 2.0 tools? Is there such a thing as too much information in a library? Too much access to information?

Here are the open ended answers to "What did I miss?":

    Google Reader, GoodReads
    wordpress, google reader, eFolioMN
    epicurious
    Academia.edu
    Online gaming sites (eg Duels.com)

    Conclusions!
What do we learn from these results? Well, for one thing, for 31 future information professionals, we have some weak spots. Consider previous readings: What tools already exist that we might try to recreate? Eight of us have never heard of IMDb. What if we have a patron who wants some instant knowledge about an obscure independent movie from early 2009? IMDb might be the best resource to offer them, but of course, we'd have to know it exists first!

Sodt & Summey mention MySpace, but they fail to point out the significant problems with MySpace. Their example is the Brooklyn College Library. As is so characteristic of MySpace, the comments board is littered with advertisements. Facebook offers libraries more benefits and as the authors mention, Facebook continues to evolve.
How can libraries make use of Facebook's potential?

Libraries once started Facebook Groups when that was a new development, but those have mostly been abandoned. Facebook groups are often static entities that a user joins in order to define him- or herself, not to participate or interact with others.
Facebook Pages are the prevalent choice now after being introduced in November of 2007. They are designed much like an individual's profile and can feature apps. The most common app is a catalog search, but some other handy ones exist, like WorldCat, LibGuides and Books iRead.
